1972 Catalina 27 Sailboat. - This boat has been really good to me. Built solid, always gets me where I want to go with confidence. I just came back from a 130 nautical mile sail on the lower Chesapeake and Mid-Atlantic Ocean. I have weathered storms with it, as well as achieved speeds of 7 mph (fast for a boat of its size). It has many years and certainly shows age on it but I like to think it has handled them well considering. It has a newly upholstered interior (2016) that is in good condition. Overall interior is kept rather clean in my opinion. The exterior the gel coat is aged and could use a very good scrub but is still all workable. Right now the boat is out of the water, dry and waiting to be put back in by a new owner. Launching of the boat by Crane/Lift is already paid (Free) and is included with the auction, so just name your date and the marina will set it in the water for you whenever you'd like. The Marina it is at is excellent and polite and professional. Currently it is stored in Deltaville Virginia. Also Included in this auction is free storage until the end of August! So no hurry to launch if you want to take your time.-- Equipment Included --- Sail Inventory: Main Sail (1) Over sized Jib (1)Winches: 2 of themWinch handle: 1 of themDepth FinderKnot-meter (speedometer)Trip distance computerMotor: None, (Outboard engine not Included) Fuel Tanks: It has two fuel tanks, each stored in the back locker. They are already equipped with outboard hookups.Outboard Bracket with raising and lowering armBatteries: It takes two lead acid deep cycle, but they are not includedBattery Bank: 2 slots (currently empty, but ready and wired to drop in 2 batteries)VHF RadioShore powerShore Power CableMarine Head (toilet)Lectrasan Marine Waste system (I am not sure if this is operable or not, looks good and in good shape but I have never turned it on)Sink (not sure if hooked up)Water and waste holding tanks (Not sure if the water is hooked up. I do not think the water waste tank is hooked up. The marine head is not holding tank style as it is sent to the Lectrasan instead)2 Anchors with Chain and Rode (not sure what length exactly but I have feed out 70 feet with more remaining)Wood TillerCompassDocking FendersDocking LinesDodger: windows of dodger are not clear, I don't use it during sailing but I put it up for storage.Main sail coverTwin burner stove (I have never used, nor tried to use. Not sure its state, but looks good.)and various sparesIcebox: works well and can hold about 50 liters water/soda. Pretty large cooler.Well that is the equipment list the comes to mind. In general for my tastes the boat is drop in ready to sail, so long as two batteries are added to it. But to each their own, so you may require more or less than that. I am just hoping it goes to a new home that can enjoy it.As for items that I can think of that could use attention: The thru-hull valve for the marine head is becoming difficult to actuate and the valve handle is lose and can be taken out and put back in by hand. But I just set it to close and I don't use it or worry about it, just fine. Also the front deck has from a previous owner I assume what appears to be a pedestal mount for something that was then removed. It left an open metal circle about 2 inches in diameter at the front of the top deck, right between the front cleats aft of the mainstay. I placed a rubber plug over it (as pictured), which works, but sealing it would be a better solution. In my opinion, these items are minor and I don't mean to knit pick the boat as it sure looks better thank most Catalina's on Ebay, but it certainly is an older vessel so bid accordingly, but for me, it has always treated me well. Thanks, if there are any questions just let me know!Specifics on other items:This sale is for the boat in as is, where is condition. This listing is not a marine survey, there are certainly things I will likely have missed. Boat is not perfect, it is from 1972 and I am just trying my best to write down best as I recall. You are welcome to check it yourself. But in the end it is as is, however it is. If you do have a question please ask. It's better to cover things up front and I want the winner of this Auction to feel they got a great boat at a great deal. The winner of this auction is to pay a $500 deposit within 7 days of auction end. It can be by paypal. Remainder of the balance is due within 14 days from end of auction. New owner will take all responsibility for the boat as of the auction date. One of the reason's I am selling is simply because I now live too far away from the water. It takes me 7 hours to get to Deltaville. As such I will not be meeting in person to transfer the boat. Instead, once full payment is received, I will mail the full Title of the boat to the new owners address. I will also mail the Key to access the lock on the main hatch. From that point, with title and key in hand it is yours! I will notify the Marina of transfer of ownership as well.As a large bonus I have already paid for storage fees on the Sailboat until the end of August, so the boat can be stored for months for free. It also includes a free launch of the boat when you chose within that time period.
