Saradas is a 45ft cruiser stern narrowboat made in 1998 by Liverpool Boats and moored at Kings Road Lock on a canal section of the Aire and Calder Navigation between Wakefield and Castleford. We've had her for 7 years but I'm retiring and moving from the area so - sadly - she has to find a new home. She passed her 4 year Boat Safety Certification in November 2016. We've never lived on her - she's been our summer weekend retreat from the city. She's powered by a 35 HP Mitsubishi Thornycroft diesel engine. Her 3 leisure batteries are 3 or 4 years old and topped up by a 30w solar panel, Her starter battery was bought last year. She has landline hook up. The 4 ft fixed bed extends out to 4ft 6" with an additional mattress insert , the main memory foam mattress was new last year. The cabin seating converts quickly to a single bed or pulls out to form a full double , making her a 4 berth. The loo is a pump out , though a brand new cassette toilet is stored on board. She has a full size gas cooker ( propane) and 12v fridge. 12v TV with built in DVD player. The 'Old English' stove burns diesel fed from the main fuel tank. Before I had her a radiator was fitted by the rear bedroom but was removed and replaced by book shelves. The back boiler and pipe work remain and could be reconnected to a new radiator. I can see why they did it - with the diesel stove on she's plenty warm enough. Usually we just use a small gas cartridge heater (included) The calorifier tank was replaced 3 years ago , at the same time she was repainted and had new windows. She has an opening side hatch which also has a roof hatch. You can see the cratch cover in the pic , she also has a rear tonneau cover. Only fair to point out her faults - the engine starter switch is getting fiddly through wear. There's a new one on board but I haven't had chance to fit it. One of the 12v sockets stopped working but I was too idle to investigate and just use an extension from another socket to power the telly. When the new windows were fitted I should have had the frames they screw into replaced too , both front window frames have some water damage from the old leaky windows and we get the odd drip from them in heavy rain because the new windows haven't enough good wood frame for the screws to tighten in. It wants sorting out. Navigation lights are fitted but have never worked - they're not required for the BSC though the tunnel light is which works fine. When pricing her up I've considered these things. I've paid for the (Canal and River Trust) mooring until December - should a prospective new owner wish to use my mooring til then , feel free. There may be one or two personal bits and bobs in the pics which I'll be taking but otherwise she's sold with a full inventory. TV, mini drinks fridge , Petrol Generator , Kitchen utensils , crockery , pots and pans , tools , bedding etc - loads of stuff - though I'll remove it on request. Apologies but this is a busy time for me and I'll be away a fair bit over the next few weeks - so if you contact me it may be a day or two before I get back to you. While I'm home , though, I'm only 4 miles from the boat and can show her to you on weekend or evenings. If she doesn't sell by the time the ad expires she'll be going to sale by brokerage where she'll doubtless cost a lot more than I'm asking here. I'll accept payment by cash , BACS transfer or similar. I'm not interested in any trades and - with sincere apologies to those genuinely interested ( for whom the kettle's always on ) - I don't have time to give boat trips to folk who 'always wanted to look round one of these'. Sorry but , sadly , it happens. I'd prefer email contact initially because I can't always answer the phone. My email is drdavesongs@hotmail.co.uk
