Hi All, I'm selling my beloved Islands 17 sailboat: Shikis ('Friend' in Navajo) after sailing her for the last 20 years! She is a great boat for Nantucket Sound or any of the coastal waters from Maine to Long island. I'm the third owner; the original owner (I have all the paperwork) was from the North Shore of Long Island. I bought it from the second owner who had her moored in Port Jefferson. Since then, I've had her trailered from the Hyannis area to her typical launch in East Bay (Osterville). She is a great boat for single-handing or for the family. Can accommodate 6 but is ideal with 4 adults. When I trailer, rig and take her out solo, I've been able to get her to plane and that's with the original sails! You can beach her or anchor off the beach if you want; she is a versatile and stable boat. I've rebuilt the rudder as you can see in the photos. What she needs before I'd take her out (been out of the water for the last 4 years): 1. Two cleats need replacing (have them) 2. Three plugs need to be replaced (have them) 3. Repair the minor dings in the transom (above the water line) 4. Centerboard pull down needs to be connected 5. If trailering, new lights would be in order You also get the 1990 Maglite Trailer and you should probably get an outboard (4 HP is ideal) I have title and registration in hand for both trailer and boat. What's included: boat sails rudder tiller sails (main and job) main sheet jib sheets bowline, stern line anchor, chain and line bumpers cushions original lazerette hatch (not pictured) mooring cover (nice black sunbrella material) boat box with assorted goodies trailer Please call or email with ANY questions. I hate to see her go; you will be happy with her, she is a great sailor!Plus, I have the original '84 class book with all the specs. Islands boats had a number of class boats and regatta's on the Great South Bay. At the time this design was a great competitor!
