Kiwi 111 Kiwi 111 Ex Naval vessel converted to a comfortable cruising live-aboard. 17m X 4.9mOn a very cheap mooringORPlenty of London moorings avaliable for cheap London living.THE PICTURES DON'T DO THIS BOAT JUSTICE The accommodation comprises as follows:- The boat is built with 4 bulkheads to give 5 separate water tight compartments. She is easy to handle and rides rough seas with comfort. Would be ideal for someone that wants to tour the French canals [or further], or just a live-aboard. The heating is by Eberspcher Airtronic D4 connected to ducting to heat the whole boat and a multi fuel burner in the front louge. The engine starts no problem and runs sweet, it burns less than 3 litres an hour running at hull speed [about 8.5 knots]. Very easy to service, cheap to maintain. She has 18 110amp hour batteries that are re-charged by 2x 250 wat solar panels or vie shore/generator power. The Victron switches from mains power to batteries without notice and runs all the boat electrics no problem. There is a survey 24/10/2005 which is very favourable. As a live-aboard she is registered as vat exempt, knocks a big chunk of mooring fees. All the wiring and plunbing has been renued and in proper working order as is every thing on the boat. She has been re painted inside and out. You can turn the key and go. She is a solid built boat and can be handled by one person with no problem. The reason I am selling her is health problems and can no longer manage her. All in all she is a good strong boat,( She is built like a floating tank). Easy to handle, cheap to run and very safe. A piece of British Naval history I would like a quick sale and have priced it accordingly. A lot of boat for a little money. The last boat was not built by a commercial company, but was constructed by shipwright apprentices at Chatham HM Dockyard in 1973 – 1974. The boats were allocated Admirlty motor Boat numbers 7014 – 7025 During their military histories, they have been given names and local identification call numbers. 7015 B Was accepted in March 1971 and initially allocated to Portsmouth but this was changed to Chatham. Arrived at Chatham on the 17/07/1973, subsequently was fitted with radar and re-engined with Perkins diesel. Was transferred to Portsmouth on the 03/10/1983 and given local number ''D30''. Transferred to RNR at Portsmouth in 1991 and repainted grey upper-works with black hull and renamed ''ZULU''.Later the craft whilst operating under the Port Defence Party at Portsmouth was repainted black and white. Was laid up in No1 Basin at Portsmouth on the 11/07/1996 awaiting for area disposal by sale in tender on the 03/06/1997 [then seen having been repainted in PAS colours]. Sold on the 20/08/1997 to Mr XXXX of Gosport. The craft was removed from the dockyard and taken to the Maritime Workshops 'Boatyard at Weevel Lane in Gosport on the 20/08/1997. About three weeks later the craft was moved to Wicor Pier further up the creek at Portsmouth for refurbishment. Resold to another owner in the Twickenham area of London. It is reported the vessel sailed from Portsmouth under the new ownership on the 07/12/1997. Since then the craft has been reported as operating from the Shepperton area under the name of KIWI 111. Her new owner now is MR XXXXX. It was serviced by MMS Marine whilst at Shepperton. Her usual mooring is at Eel Pie Island on the river Thames. She is now painted with a black hull, white upper-works and green deck with a small dinghy secured on deck. I purchased Kiwi 111 in September 2007, and moored on the Blackwater near Maldon, Essex. Till April 2013 and have since been moored on the river Crouch near Battlesbridge. I have more information on all 12 Kiwi Class up till about 12 years ago. A couple of them even served in the Falkland Islands. It is thought that only 4 of these boats are still serviving this one on the crouch one in Chateris on the Medway and one in a Maritime musiam in Leeds. The last thought to be somewhere in the Indian ocean.
