MORE PHOTOS TO BE ADDED ON WEDNESDAY 10th MayOk ladies and gents, so I'm going to try and be as honest and clear in this as possible but as I am sure you will quickly figure out I am not boat expert! I am however open to any and all questions and will do my best to answer honestly and in as much detail as I can. I think I am going to struggle to get up to do a viewing before but if you wish to do so please do message me when you are hoping to view and I will try my best. For sale is my 23ft river cruiser. I purchased it as a project about 18 months ago, which if you knew me you would know was probably a terrible idea. The good news is that the boat itself works is in great working order, which was probably half the reason I never got round to working on it as I ended up spending the summer just sailing it up and down the Lancaster canal which is one of the most relaxing places I've been! Cosmetically it needs work, but included in the sale are a lot of the key things needed to get it looking nice inside as well, but I just haven't had the time. I'm also pretty much a novice when it comes to DIY, I had to pay a handyman to come and put a mirror up in my living room when I moved into the house I'm in now, which tells you all you need to know about my DIY expertise. I did however make a good effort to clean and clear out the boat, and whilst I never actually got around to fitting a lot of it I did also purchase white wood-effect vinyl wall covering which I intended to fit throughout. I spent about £200 on that, which is just waiting to be fitted if the new owner wants to do so. It does look great in fairness, but it will take a good few hours to fit. I have got everything you need to do so including the special glue that will enable you to simply just stick it to the walls, its not complex but it is time consuming. I have however fitted the flooring that you can see in the picture above, which cost about another £80 for the materials but looks a hell of a lot better. It is a 23ft 1978 GRP River Cruiser, which was on the market back a few years for £8,000 (when I purchased it the previous owner provided me with the laminated sales sheet from the broker which I will pass onto the new buyer). The boat also features a fully working 1.5 BMC Diesel engine which had new seals fitted in 2015 and a new top hose last year, and has never let me down once. It starts up first time and always seems to be working fine. It has an Enfield Z drive in good working condition and a good solid hull. There is a separate bathroom cabin and two separate seating sections, one of which converts into a bed using the cushions that are all included. I spent £160 on fabric to re-upholster the cushions which I will include in the sale, but the buyer will need to arrange for them to actually be recovered. I do however have a couple of numbers if you didn't want to do this yourself.  You can also see from the pictures that the kitchen has it's doors missing, these are also included in the sale and can be fitted back on. The kitchen also has a metal sink and running water. It has a twin caller gas hob and oven fitted which is virtually brand new. It was installed by the previous owner and looks as good as new. When the boat was finished I intended to use it as a bit of a holiday home with overnight stays, and it is fitted with both an Eberspacher D3LC night heater with thermostat control and also a portaloo. The latter I haven't used and I wouldn't be confident in doing so to be honest, I had planned to remove it and install a new one that can just be emptied which are available from £45 so an easy job. It has about another year on it's safety certificate. Mooring - The mooring is at Garstang marina, 10 minutes from the M6 at Galgate, and is one of the most relaxing places I've been, if I ever had a boat again I would make sure it was moored here if I could. The facilities are second to none with full low cost electric mooring, toilets, showers, private parking, marine shop and more. I am based in York and it's about 2 hours drive but is well worth it. There are no locks on the canal for 42 miles, so it is perfect for first time boaters. I have used it even without doing out the inside properly as a great little day boat over the last summer. It's hard to explain exactly how relaxing it is to sail down the Lancaster canal in the sun, pulling up outside one of the great riverside pubs and having a pint in the sun! It truly is a dream day out when the sun is shining, just writing this is making me gutted I don't get at least another summer on it! I should note that you can not officially sell a mooring, but this boat has had 3 different owners and has been in it's spot at Garstang Marina for 30 years so I will be absolutely stunned if they have any issue with this. I had no problem transferring this over to myself in fact they are really nice at the marina so would be only too happy to help. You of course don't need to keep it at Garstang but it's such a lovely place I think you will love it as soon as you spend a day there! There are facilities to take the boat should you wish to move it and I am happy to help wherever possible if you wished to move it to another location. The bad stuff - The boat obviously needs some work on the inside, it is all cosmetic as far as I can tell and since buying it, I have spent about £700 on things to fit out the inside from wood for shelving to vinyl flooring. Even all the fabric to re-upholster the cushions will be included, a really classic boat style blue lining. If someone takes this on and fits the stuff I have already bought you'll probably instantly add a couple of grand onto the value of the boat, and it will be perfectly liveable on. But it does need someone to put in the time to fit it. In the interest of full disclosure, I should also say that the mooring payments are about £65 a month, split in two payments due every 6 months with the next one being due in the middle of June. So if you wanted to move it you would have about a month to do so, or if you wanted to continue with the mooring the next payment of approx £400 would be due in June. If you are looking for something to have fun with and turn into a really nice boat, this is as good as they come. Fully working engine and with everything you need to take it from a project to a weekend, live aboard boat, this is ideal for new boaters or those who want to take on a project but not one that's going to require a great deal of expertise knowledge. I'm selling because my wife is a nurse and recently move to a new department which has increased the number of weekend hours she's doing, so it's become even more rare than before that we are able to get a weekend off to spend time on it. I've only been able to go up twice since the beginning of the year, so it just doesn't make sense for us to keep it anymore. So, in a move I am sure I will regret every time the sun is shining, I have listed the boat with no reserve and 99p start. Not listed anywhere else, whoever wins the auction will walk away with a fantastic little project! I will need a £250 deposit on completion of the listing, preferably by bank transfer or PayPal, and can then work with the buyer to arrange a convenient time to meet at the boat to complete the sale.
