For auction is a Hobie 3.5 Catamaran. I purchased this from a gentleman last year and neither of us was exactly sure what it was. After researching it I discovered that this catamaran is designed for kids with the weight limit around 140 lbs (I'm too heavy to use it).The boat is narrower than a full size Hobie Cat which makes it much easier for a small person to right if it gets tipped over. This boat is not nearly as common as a regular Hobie Cat and was only produced for 4 years (1975-79). Based on the sail number #149 I've estimated that this unit was made in 1975 but this is just my best guess. The picture with the two yellow hulled Hobie Cats has been included for COMPARISON TO A FULL SIZE ONLY. The boat for sale has the Gray hulls. The hulls appear to be in great shape and I believe that this boat is complete and ready to be sailed as it sits. There is a small hole in the sail (could use cleaning) and also a spot on a rudder that needs paint. The previous owner replaced the trampoline with a home made one made out of a trampoline that you jump on. He did a very reasonable job and it appears to be very sturdy but it is not OEM. The boat comes with a homemade trailer with a clean title. I would be willing to have a conversation about delivery or meeting halfway somewhere within 120 miles of my location.
