The Good, The Bad..and The Ugly.The Good : Coxcraft Rum Runner, great offshore fishing rigs, plenty of room, great looking boats, very similar to Haines design. Very safe high sided boat. Good size cabin area. Excellent trailer, no rust, tows beautifully. 115 Johnson engine. The Bad : This is a resto project, i was going to take on this coming winter, but i'm putting it out there for anyone who can see a bargain and end up with a top unit. The hull exterior is original and excellent, no paintwork, repairs etc, only a couple of minor chips to gelcoat, but considering its age it had been well cared for. A good clean & polish will look like new.The Ugly : The transom & floor are shot, i don't think there is any wood left anywhere there...no if's or buts, they need replacing.
Engine hasn't been started for a while, and key lost in that time also.
Needs a battery, needs steering cable (seized), needs reg, boat & trailer.Many will walk away from this project, as it's too much work, but will still go out & buy a running concern for many more dollars with no real idea what shape their "good" transom is in...
The good side is, this is realistically priced, spend the money or better still if capable, do it yourself, and end up with a new unit that will last you for years, it will probably end up working out the same cost wise in the end, but you'll have peace of mind of having a new floor/transom.These boats usually go for $9000-14000, pending condition..do the sums.P/U only, Ballarat.
