Replica Edwardian Launch “Cygnet” The Cygnet is an eye catching vessel which is popular for weddings and other Special functions. Launched in 1997 the boat was operated as a commercial steam launch until 2002. We bought the boat in September; it underwent an extensive refit and a name change as part of the conversion to electric. It commenced operations as the “Cygnet” in January 2003 and has operated on an almost daily basis, through the intervening years. One of the Selway Fisher designs from the replica Edwardian range of boats. This was the first 26 foot version specially modified by Paul Fisher to increase the beam. The modification is now offered as part of the 26 ft. Edwardian set of plans. Built by the modern, glued strip plank method and sheathed in fibre glass embedded in epoxy. It is a strong serviceable boat. Propulsion is from a 10 KW, Lynch permanent magnet electric motor operating at 48 volts. The motor is operated through a solid state controller . Cygnet is on the Schedule of Vessels for our Certificate of Operation and In 2 E AMSA Survey for 10 passengers I crew. It has the full complement of safety equipment required to comply with its survey rating. There are both 27meg and VHF Transceivers and a radio/CD, Mp3and USB player. The boat is tailorable. There is a home built trailer that is included with the boat.
