A once in a lifetime opportunity to own this drop dead gorgeous, historic and time warp condition yacht tender / passenger launch. This is such a fine example that there is a possibility of listing her as a National Historic Ship or Vessel and the new owner may be
able to have grant funding awarded for her maintenance and upkeep. There is also easy potential to be a show winner! Both for both originality and concourse. Designed, developed and built by the I.O.W based County Passenger Launch Company Ltd in the late 1940’s / early 1950’s,it was used to showcase their top quality boats to the American market. There are magaine articles / adverts I have found of this particular boat.
This is their first build of this particular type and featured in magazine adverts and articles. The original drawings are held by the maritime museum and copies can be obtained if required. The two sets of drawings relevant to this boat are; 0072 - 12’ 9” Launch designed and built circa 1948 – 1952. 0092 – 9’ 0” Launch designed and built circa 1948 – 1952 There are three drawings of this design, and are held by National Maritime Museum. A traditionally hand built clinker motor launch / tender with single cylinder Stratton engine and Stuart prop-shaft.
Very sturdy and sits perfectly in the water with wonderful weight distribution.
This is the perfect example of operational AND decorational. A rare combination. Built using oak, mahogany, copper rivets, and marine grade bronze it is quite simply a work of art as well as being a perfectly usable tender. Everything is original (with the exception of the engine covers which have been replaced and heat insulated) and
no detail has been missed by the builders; In this launch you have; Single cylinder motor, with both electric and hand crank start. Fuel tank fwd in the bow with brass fittings.
Even the fuel cap is stunning and tells you what to put in. The attention to detail on this little vessel is simply mind blowing! Ability to disengage the prop, full throttle control. Oar locks. (No oars) Rubber stripped deck plates. 3 blade bronze prop. Stunning rudder and tiller. (This is a very clever design! - option to hand manoeuvre your vessel by either the tiller
or side wheel via a wire and pulley system. Fly by wire! :-) ) - The rudder is a work of art on its own!The pictures show the fly-by-wire set up. The hand tiller is much larger and a beautiful piece of carved timber.
Hand operated bilge pump. There is a plate to mount a small outboard motor if you so wish. Full marine bronze Stuart prop shaft casing and outlet. Raw water cooling with pump. Inlet and outlets in full bronze. Bronze cleats and eyes. Fully polished and ready to go on its own custom built trailer. The only job I have not done is repainted below the water line.
I have left this to show the undercoat primer and that the boat is in perfect condition and nothing is hidden.
I can either repaint for you prior to collection or leave it to you.I can also deliver to you if required. Please enquire with your delivery address to I can give you a price and ETA.I have created an online folder of photographs - you can find it below by clicking the link below or cut and paste it into a new window.https://1drv.ms/a/s!Alw9e5n-BcyXgoJR8rEKeEIYepBGwA If you have any questions or would like to arrange a viewing please contact me via Ebay or on my mobile - 07896598172.
