Here for auction folks, is my most INCREDIBLE Maccy 26, 'Cohuna'. The first thing I want to tell you is my reason for sale. (Not sail.) ;-) It's simply because I have spent the last FIVE spring, summer, and autumns sailing. The last 3 on my beloved Cohuna. And now? I'm out of cash!On to the boat herself. If you know Macwester's then you're already IN the know, if not, do a bit of 'Googling'.Cohuna is one of only about 450 ever built, and most of them are still around! Built in 1968 in Great Britain, it was in the early days of fibre glass builds. Hence she is built like a battleship! The hull is 4 1/2 inches thick.A very sturdy boat, that can handle dead calms, and heavy seas. Good for first timers, and experienced salty sea dogs like myself. 6' 1" headroom in the cabin means that even I can almost stand up straight in there! She has four berths. (Five with the table down, but that's a pain and I actually think it's four and a third!) A private 'heads' cabin, (NEW Jabsco toilet in there 2 years ago), a two burner stove with grill in the galley, and gas heater if you're aboard when it's nippy. (Keep a gap in the hatch for air circulation if you're using that!) There is also an electric 12V heater aboard, but I've never used it as I don't like to drain the batteries too much. (I know you want to see the cabin and it's not in the pics. Read on, I am attaching links to videos.)ALL the pictures were taken over the last 3 seasons cruising, the last one, on the day she was lifted out in September this year. She is in dry dock at PLYMOUTH MARINE, and viewing is welcome. I can't meet you there as I am 200 miles away in the midlands, but just tell them at reception that you are going to have a look at Cohuna.I have a swinging mooring nearby in the river Tamar with Saltash Sailing Club which you can take over if you want to keep her close by. (£48 per month.)Back to Cohuna. She has a 2005 20hp 3 cylinder Beta Marine diesel inboard. FANTASTIC engine, which has not missed a beat during my ownership. I serviced it recently, and you don't need to touch it before next season. (New fuel/oil/air filters/impeller.)She has a roller reefing Genoa. NEW last year. The main sail is in very good condition. Spare sails in the forward lockers, but I can't specify as I've ever looked at them! The standing rig is well tuned and maintained, and ALL the running rigging was replaced two years ago. (Sheets and halyards.) Plenty of warps and fenders in the lockers. As far as engine and rig are concerned? She's ready to go when you are.Two high power batteries, kept at full power because I'm a bit A.D.D about that!Nav lights all good, mast headlight needs a new bulb!Lowrance GPS with UK and Ireland charts. Eagle Depth Sounder. Both in fab condition.Plough anchor, which I have used MANY a time, great holding. The rubbing strakes, gunnels, and hand rails all need replacing in my opinion. The wood is not in good condition.THIS is why I have set the reserve low. It's not something that HAS to be done, you could antifoul her and sail away next year if you don't/can't spend the money on that. I've seen Maccy 26's with the rubbing strakes removed, and a stripe painted in it's place. And handrails removed. And in my three years aboard, I've NEVER grabbed a handrail, even solo sailing. I'm being BANG ON honest with you here - I think they'd fall off the boat with me if I DID grab them! But I've made sure they still LOOK the part. I have a marine engineer close to where Cohuna is, who will replace ALL the wood at a very reasonable price who I can put you in touch with if you want to get her back to her majestic best. Now, back to seeing a bit more of Cohuna. I'm going to post a link to a video diary I made the year I purchased her, and when I took her from Wareham to Saltash, it encapsulated my FIRST solo sail! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dQNAzHIucIs (Copy and paste into your browser to view.)The first view of the cabin comes at around 1.38. Btw. This was the FIRST day I saw her! Watching that first bit has reminded me to tell you that she now has an auto bilge pump in the forward section. (And the electric tap is now in perfect working order. 50 litre on board water tank.)Here's some more film from last season. 17 minutes dead on is a nice place to come in here, as my son and I left Looe (Cornwall) in some rare blazing sunshine.https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3GZB_1BSvVo (Copy and paste into your browser to view.)Whether you want to replace the woodwork or not, Cohuna is a FANTASTIC classic 4 ton bilge keel yacht, and with a jet wash and an anti-foul, ready to sail. Great for 'Creek Crawling' too, as she will float in 3 feet of water, and if you get caught out with the tide, she'll sit nicely and wait for it to come back. (Happened to me on the way to 'Dandy Hole' on the river Lhyner this summer! ;-D She is also a very dry boat. No leaks in any deck fittings, no drips whilst sheltering in the cabin. She also stayed in the water the last two winters on the Tamar with no problems from below.NO bids from people with less than 20 feedback please, unless you contact me first. Or your bid WILL be removed.10% deposit via bankers draft within 24 hours of completion at the end of the auction. (Call me or send your number.)I will drive down from Walsall and meet you for the handover, show you everything you need to know, and take my dvd player home! I will ACCEPT cash for the balance, but would prefer a digital transfer when we meet. (Saves me having to go to the bank to pay it in.)NO offers. This auction will run to completion. If you want any more info, you can call me (Matt) on: 07954 995676Happy Bidding!Oh. One more thing. I also have an 8 man liferaft which you CAN have with the sale. But it's at my house. In Walsall. (Collection only.)Additional: I didn't intend for this auction to start/finish so late, however, eBay or my laptop decided otherwise and suddenly it was listed..!
On 30-Oct-16 at 09:18:30 GMT, seller added the following information:I should add that part of the starboard rubbing strake came away during a storm last winter due to connection with one of the bow strops. I cleaned up the area, and painted a stripe in the same colour as the strake in the area where it's missing. She'll get away with it for a couple of seasons if you don't want to / can't afford to replace them yet. In fact I would recommend ripping both the strakes off and simply cleaning up and painting before she goes back in. (As referenced above, I've seen this on other 26's). Of course, if you want to keep her original, then you want new ones. The engineer I mentioned recommended that we use iroko. The modern alternative to teak. Also in addition, I forgot to mention that she has a VHF radio in good condition, and a radio / cd player for entertainment. And of course, two 12V sockets for charging phones and things..!I think that covers it! Any questions, ask away.Matt.
