An interesting canopied vintage harbour launch. Bella, a handsome and unusual launch and occasional weekender, is built of red deal planking on oak ribs, teak superstructure and teak decks. She is believed to have been a Southampton Authority harbour launch built in 1928. Often used for the commute between the Isle of Wight and Southampton as well as on the Medina. During the winter of 2008/9 topsides were taken right back and she had 6 coats of paint, rubbed down between each coat, the varnish was also taken right back and 10 coats applied, again rubbed down between each coat and of course re anti fouled. Winter of 2009/10 the topsides and hull were rubbed and repainted and re anti-fouled. The engine is a Vetus 4 cylinder diesel and with the addition of a bow thruster this is a highly manouevrable launch in which two people can sleep very comfortably. She has a loo cubicle for a port-a-potty. The large aft cockpit could easily be opened up into the wheelhouse making this an ideal boat for entertaining. The inventory includes : - fenders - vinyl cushions for the cockpit area - blue and maroon fabric cushions for the cabin and internal seating - blue and white curtains for the saloon - mooring lines and anchor with chain and warp - two signwritten lifebuoys Builder: Southampton Harbour Authority Year of build: 1928 Length: 30ft Beam: 8ft or 2.10 metres Propulsion: Vetus diesel Email your questions to us the boat is available for viewing at our facility near Reading |
