Blue Spirit is a Microplus Explorer 501 motor boat / cabin cruiser.Fitted with a Mercury 25HP 2 Stroke petrol outboard with manual tilt and trim. It has remote steering and throttle control and is both electric start (from the 12v battery) and also has the reassurance of a pull start which I find surprisingly easy. Engine runs smootly and pumps cooling water well.We have only used her on freshwater - Loch Lomond and also the Lancaster canal. We bought her from a place in Norfolk where she was moored on the "Broads" Fuel tank is a proper outboard type with quick release, self sealing couplings.Described by the manufacturers as a "2 berth" but she is quite compact inside, though enough space for two people to lie down and yet have a compartment for a portaloo (included) and a gas cooker (also included). The cooker is supplied from a calor bottle mounted safely on the stern. I have never used the cooker so cannot say how effective it is.The boat comes complete with a braked road trailer which is all galvanised with the exception of some mudguard brackets. I have refurbished the brakes this year and re-packed the bearings. I fitted new stainless steel brake cables both sides. The trailer includes a removable lighting board so as long as you bring your number plate it is ready to tow away.Very easy to launch and recover on a slipway.The boat has a canopy that covers the rear deck. The frame is good. The cover is a bit old and requires a few press studs replacing. It is a bit grubby but should clean up OK. New covers can be bought online.She has a Safety Certificate that expires 07/11/2018 so another 2 seasons before that needs renewing.Here are some specifications I borrowed from the web:-
