I bought this boat in April for $1500 as a project. I have done a considerable bit of work on it. Sanded bottom to the gel-coat on the port side and applied 3 coats of Interlux 2000e barrier expoy. The starboard side has been scraped and still needs sanded and barrier coat. I have 2 gals of 2000e for it.The top sides have been sprayed with 1 part epoxy paint. The boot stripe, cabin top and cockpit still need to be painted. I have sanded the entire cabin top and have the paint for that. Two of the Windows leak in heavy rain and should be recaulked or rebedded. The interior is clean and the cushions are clean and in very good condition. The sink cabinet has been removed to clean and access hoses and through hulls. 1 through hull for the engine intake should be replaced. The sails are in good condition with 2 head sails. The top of the hanging locker has some rot in the corner where the port light leaks. I have a bowl under it now.The bulk heads are solid and the chain plates do not leak. There are some instruments that need to be installed on the mast. The mast step is solid and does not leak. The standing rigging appears strong and in good condition.Running rigging is good. No frayed lines. There is a roller furler that works and two anchors with rhode. There is an adjustable back stay. The Atomic 4 runs ok but, the transmission is making noise' It may not last an entire season? The prop shaft is out and needs replaced as it was bent do to snagging a crab pot. It is bronze and should be replaced with stainless. I would not try to straighten it.The boat is solid and clean with a functional engine and good sails. With some sweat equity you will have a great cruiser with a questionable transmiion.I would have finished this project except I have acquired a Bristol 30 that is also a project boat. I have chosen to focus my efforts on that rather than the Catalina. I have about $3,300 into it and it will require about another 3k to complete. That should get you a rebuilt trans and whatever other incidentals you will need. It's mostly sweat equity.
