Narrowboat Canal Boat Project 45ft Fully Replated

Estimated price for orientation: 16 500 $

Category: Narrowboats or Canalboats
Class:

Description
Country/Region of Manufacture: United Kingdom

A rare opportunity to purchase a 45ft (14m approx.) all-steel cruiser style narrowboat, believed built by Bingley Marine in 1977 and now ready for a full internal refurbishment. The baseplate and hull have been professionally replated  to above the waterline - this work has been completed to a very high standard using S275 certified steel, and the hull will be freshly blacked prior to sale. The photos show the high quality of the replating, which will provide a complete new lease of life to the boat. The boat is powered by a BMC 1.5 litre diesel engine coupled to a Newage hydraulic gearbox. The cabin exterior above the gunwales, although currently painted black, will be grit-blasted prior to sale and freshly primed allowing the purchaser to choose a fresh colour scheme. The boat benefits from a total of 10 large windows, and although cosmetically rather shabby inside, the interior would benefit from a complete refurbishment to provide a light and airy living space. The basic interior fit-out is all in place, and a new owner would have the option of stripping out and undertaking a complete refit or of a substantial clean-up and improvement based on the existing layout.Entering the boat from the large cruiser deck down steps into the rear cabin, the current layout uses T&G on the upper walls and ceiling. Bench seating in the rear cabin, 6ft 3ins long, could adapt to provide a rear sleeping area. Moving forward is the current shower room and porta-potti area, 4 x 4ft, requiring complete refurbishment, with fitted cupboards opposite. Then follows the galley area, 7ft long with freestanding gas cooker, sink with units below, and space for a Paloma-style water heater. The saloon area lies forward of the galley and is 11ft in length, open plan in design, potentially providing a light and airy sitting room with corner cupboard and wood-burning stove. Double doors open onto the foredeck, with cratch and gas locker to the front.Currently on hard-standing, this is an ideal project boat, with all essential structural steelwork completed, and with the benefit of boatyard and launching facilities on site. If required, hardstanding can be arranged for a new owner while the internal work is completed. This narrowboat would be ideally suited to long-term leisure cruising or possible a live-aboard boat, and at 45ft long has the benefit of reasonable licence and mooring fees. The boat is located alongside the Montgomery Canal near Oswestry, Shropshire and is for sale by Oswestry Boatbuilders. If you have any queries we will do our best to help, either by email or phone.
