MLARKY is a 1977 Southerly 28 with faired in bilge keelets and a central ballasted leg with lifting centre plate. This allows control with the keel up in 0.75M and drying out upright. I have spent considerable time and expense to create a comfortable cruiser with two steering positions and a powerful but frugal Mitsubishi triple diesel using about 1.5 lts an hour at crusing and with a range of at least 300 miles. The engine was fitted in 2013 and the gearbox in 2015 (3 year warranty). All reefing and allied controls are led back to cockpit. Coach roof and all sides have been relined and the lighting replaced with LEDs. There are 5 berths for those of a cosy disposition, but note that the front cabin has not been relined as yet. |The front coachouse windows are new, very expensive replacements and the side ones have been refurbished with new perspex and seals.Mlarky is much admired and has proved to be an excellent passage maker with the option of 7 knots diesel powered when necessary. The cabin has a cooker with oven, pressured cold water and a cold box along with GPS; VHF radio, stereo complete with proper speakers. The toilet has been serviced and all taps replaced. The cockpit is self draining with compass, duet log and sounder aided by a recent Raymarine autohelm. The sails are in good condition with slab reefing to main and roller to Genoa. Included is a good quality inflatable tender with a 2.5 hp outboard. I could go on but if interested she is afloat at Southampton and can be viewed anytime.
