Up for auction is this 17 foot hand built Cedar Strip Ocean Kayak. Built by Frederck Powell, this is the 11th kayak he has built since 2003. Materials include white and red cedar, mahogany, and aspen. Time to build was between 250 and 300 hours, and there is approx. $1,000 in materials used to build it. It comes with a hand made paddle. It is valued at around $4,000. This item was donated to the Grand Traverse Lighthouse Museum by Mr. Powell. The Grand Traverse Lighthouse Museum is a non-profit, and the money raised by the sale of this beautiful kayak will be used in the continued restoration of the Lighthouse. This will be the first listing on the GTLM ebay account, and I want to add my ebay account for you to use as a reference as far as feedback. I am the vice president of the GTLM board of directors, and will be doing most of the listings for the Lighthouse. My ebay account is wolf-allen. All of my feedback is positive, but you can check that for yourself. We are starting the bids at $2,000 with no reserve, and the winning bidder will either have to pick the item up at the Lighthouse, or will have to arrange shipping from the Lighthouse.
