1957 Vintage Shelcraft/Merc1000
Estimated price for orientation: 900 $
Category: Runabouts
Class:
Description Condition: Used Year: 1957 Make: Vintage Shelcraft/Merc1000
Shelcrafts were built in Chester, Pa. in the 50's and 60's. This may be the lone survivor.
She is in excellent condition from the waterline up but has a bottom issue. There is a shoebox size hole in the plywood bottom . It would need replaced or repaired by a confident boatsman. A project beyond me.The Mahogany has been finished with 10 coats of Epifanes varnish. ALL hardware replaced with marine stainless, bronze and brass. Cleats, guides, lights, horn in great condition.
But it has a hole in the bottom!Powered by a Mercury that had sat in a heated garage for 40 years until I matched it with a mechanic who replaced seals and hoses as well as tune up. The three carbs have been rebuilt as well as the lower end re-done. Hard to match the sound of a Tower of Power.More pics available and will be glad to answer all questions
