westerly centaur - possibility of a mooring
Estimated price for orientation: 560 $
Category: Sailing Boats
Class:
Description Make: Westerly Length (feet): 26 feet Model: Centaur Hull Material: Fiberglass Year: 1977 Keel: Bilge Keel
Here is an opportunity to grab a bargain. This is a later Centaur as so benefits from the design improvements over the earlier models. However the engine, Volvo MDC11, has gone the way of the Monty Python Parrot. I can't make it work and I believe it to be an overheating problem. Plastimo headsail roller reefing but the Headsail needs replacing. In side it is a very tidy boat, keel bolts all good, strengthening in place etc. The leisure and starter batteries are OK. The boat has been rewired recently. There are no modern navigation aids or radio, having said that I do have some items that on discussion I could include. There is a good outboard engine mount fitted on the stern. The standing rigging is all in good condition. The cushions have been recovered recently. The headlining is non original but does not sag in the main cabin and is tidy. Anti-fouled this April. There is a mooring available on the Swale in Kent if the boat is sold before the end of September. The boat is on the water in Queenborough. There is now a mooring waiting list there. If you are interested please let me know so I can tell you about the boat in more detail. I have looked at engine options and am stuck at which way to go. A fair summary is that the boat needs attention to its inventory to make it really nice again, Included with the boat;Mainsail with boom roller reefing. All ropes, warps etc2 buoyancy aids - adult2 Harness's2 Winch Handles5 green fenders and maybe an odd one.Anchor and chain. And other stuff which I can't remember !The boat is listed elsewhere so reserve the right to end the auction early.
