HelloWe have an 8% share available on our lovely boat LIGHTNING. This is a JOINT OWNERSHIP arrangement and not a commercial operation in any way whatsoever. 'Lightning' is shared by a group of fastidious owners, and is maintained to a very high standard, and kept at her mooring at Broom Boats in Brundall, Norfolk NR13 5PX. This is not rental or time-share, this is genuine joint ownership and everything that goes with it.Your 8% share entitles you to one week in each of the seasons Spring, Summer, Autumn, Winter. These are picked out of a hat randomly at an annual AGM. Members are encouraged to swap where eg school holidays are important for some but not for others. Sometimes members cannot fully utilise their weeks so these 'spare' ones are made available to the other members on a first come first served basis. Our syndicate was formed in 2008 and is very mature with little turnover in shares. The £7000 asking price for the share is set by the shareholder, and is based on what they think it is worth in the current market. If you want to challenge this then your are welcome to negotiate. We have recently installed a brand new VOLVO D2-55 engine and upgraded all her interior lighting to LED, so no big expense hiding around the corner. Once you have bought your share then all you do is pay your 8% proportion of the annual running and maintenance costs - which were £1300 per share last year. This is an absolute bargain when compared to hiring a similar boat for one week in the high season. There is a lot of information on the web regarding shared ownership on the Norfolk Broads. You can find further information about LIGHTNING on google using "Lightning Syndicate 2008", you can also message me, or call me at one of the numbers below.Thank you for lookingSimon BlytheChairmanLightning Syndicate 2008Q&A's from previous listings.......Lightning is not available for rent nor are members allowed to rent their weeks to third partiesNo idea how much she cost new but a new 4 berth Broom starts at £250,000 Lightning was launched in 1995 and she is insured for £85,000 as a total loss Governance of the syndicate requires that accounts can be inspected at any time and our treasurer would be happy to provide a break down of running costs if needed. To give you an idea they include mooring fees, river license, weekly turnarounds, winter maintenance etc. There is no management fee as the syndicate is self managed. Generally it is the running costs that prohibit boat ownership, not the initial outlay in the purchase. Lightning is a private boat but she has three sisters in the hire fleet: Emerald Emblem with Horning Ferry Marina, and Beam of Light 1 & 2 with Herbert Woods. You can check rental yourself but costs are roughly £1200 in low season up to £1600 in high season. This is for one week compared to at least four weeks if you own a share in Lightning. You can sell your share at anytime and the price you ask is entirely up to you. There is a lot of information on shared ownership on the Norfolk Broads and the BCBM website is a good place to start. You will also see Lightning's sister there 'Thunder' - take a look at her and her costs (especially as they do not include winter maintenance). Shared ownership is not for everyone but if you visit the Broads more than once a year then this a potential way of saving money and getting a better quality boat comparing like with like. Generally, people who want to buy a share come to this decision independently, and then start to look for a boat to buy into. Again generally, these are experienced boaters who have been visiting the Broads for some years and they are definitely not newcomers to the pastime. Lightning has her own website that can be found by googling 'Lightning Syndicate 2008'. Can I suggest you do some research and then come back to me if you are interested.
