This is a most unusual one off opportunity to purchase a small trimaran which isfast and easy to sail and almost impossible to capsize. After a capsize incident when I could not get back on board my dinghy (I'm 67) I decided to turn the Byte (Like a laser but designed for lighter people) into a trimaran using beams and floats made from plans supplied by Fyne Boat kits. The result was extremely successful, you can stay out in strong winds after other dinghies have given up, you can relax and sit anywhere on the boat. My wife even found it acceptable which is saying something as she generally hates the stresses of sailing. It really is lovely to sail. The basic boat is a Byte class which is a glass fibre hull similar to a Laser but in my opinion it has a better and more comfortable internal configuration. The outer hulls are made from ply and epoxy, they are finished in glass cloth and very strong. The cross beam are in laminated timber glued with epoxy and though they flex a little they have stood up to pretty strong winds. All the components of the boat are in very good condition, including the sail which is first class. I am selling the boat as we have now aquired a small beach cat and I want to buy another larger boat. The whole rig can go on top of a car roof rack, I have made special painted carriers which fit inside the hull and carry the outer hulls and mast sections. The hull itself has a timber cradle which I used to slide over rollers I built into my roof rack which made hoisting it up onto the rack pretty easy. Alternativley of course you could use a dinghy trailer.
The boat is easy to rig up, the beams bolt to the hull using U bolts and the outer hulls bolt to the beams with wing nuts and it all feels very secure. She certainly draws attention wherever you go.Ring Richard on 015395 65870 if you would like more information or wish to view.
I also need to mention that the bottom is somewhat scratched, I had intended to paint but have not made the time to do it yet,Other than that the boat is in very good condition
