Description
Condition: Used Year: 1929
Make: Nimphius

Ferd "Red" Nimphius began building and remodeling wooden boats on Milwaukee, WI’s lakefront in 1929. Up for auction is one of his earliest vessels, a 1929, 16’ LOA, 48” beam, sailboat with original and new sails, and a beautiful trailer all of which are in absolutely perfect condition throughout. The boat has slab-sides, a flat bottom, hard chines and very flat decks. She is framed in white oak, planked in ¾” mahogany, has canvas-covered decks and sculptured gunwales, all of which are in excellent condition. She has mahogany floorboards, and original cast iron rudder, tiller and centerboard. She retains her original sails were fabricated by Joys Bros Company, 129 N. Water St., Milwaukee, WI. They are in remarkably pristine condition. The boat also has new sails fabricated in a modern faux cotton sail fabric in 2015. The sails have not been used. The trailer was professionally restored cosmetically and mechanically in 2014, and it was stored indoors thereafter. It has new paint tires, wheels, bearings, and wiring. The mast and boom are also in remarkable, ready-to-step and sail condition. The outhaul works smoothly, as does the sheave at the top of the mast. The spreaders are sound, as is the standing rigging.
