BoatBox is a really clever idea - a Dinghy one way up, and a Roofbox the other way up. So you can take more stuff with you to the campsite, and then have a boat to play with when you get there! Because the "boat" goes on your roof, you can still tow a caravan or trailer too... In ROOFBOX MODE BoatBox is one of the largest on the market (650 litre capacity). It mounts and locks onto a specially-designed tray moulding, included as part of the package, so that the contents are fully protected from above and below, and casual thieves. The well-designed stainless steel hinges/latches also mean that it can be opened from either side, handy for access if you're driving overseas or even if you've parked on the "wrong" side of the road in the UK. It mounts onto almost all roofbars, with simple-to-fit and easily-adjustable U-clamps.In BOAT MODE BoatBox - at just 6ft long - is one of the smallest on the market, but still surprisingly capable and stable, with built-in buoyancy for safety. The carrying capacity is rated at 125kg, or one adult and a couple of small children. So it's great for one person to take out on a lake fishing, or - with suitable supervision, training and buoyancy aids etc - to send the kids off on Swallows and Amazons style adventures. BoatBox can be rowed with oars/rowlocks included, or motored with a small electric outboard (not included but widely available on ebay and elsewhere).BoatBox is made to very high standards in the UK. Most notably it has a full interior moulding, ie it's double-skinned throughout (most roofboxes are a much more flimsy single skin).
