Description Make: Baja
This is a 1997 Baja 252 25ft speedboat. It has 15 hours on fresh water rebuilt gen 6 454 motor. Has hydraulic roller cam and large oval port heads Edelbrock high rise intake with Holly 850 double pumper carburetor. Has Gil offshore exhaust and full fresh water cooling system. Also has air fuel ratio gauge for easy tuning and jetting. It has 322 hours on the boat and only needs a few small things like the stitching replaced in the backseat, either a fuel sender or fuel gauge and could use some new cushion covers in the cabin. I started to do it but other things took priority. and the floor over the gas tank has a hole for access to the tank and that part of the floor is starting to get soft around the access hole "very common" but is a easy fix it unscrew with a few screws and my friend fixed his in his 272 Baja in a hour from the bottom with no visible difference. The old flower print is very outdated otherwise boat runs great needs nothing mechanical at all. I use it just about every weekend during the summer. I was in the process of building this to be a fast boat over a number of years motor was just freshened up to hold me over till I could build a crazy BBC. So I stared with some bolt on's as things were needed. So the manifolds were old so I did the Gil manifolds with intake. The stock steering was getting really tight so I had just put Mayfair dual hydraulic steering and drive shower because I planed on needing it at some point. I also had the last 6 feet of the hull blueprinted, if you do any research you can find that the islanders, 252, 272 ect were build with a large hook in the rear of the hull to make it easier to plane off. With any kind of power or trim tabs this is not a problem and it does have perfectly working tabs. After getting it back the boat felt like a hole new boat, it feels so light and needs so little trim to get to top speed now. Also picked up a few mph. It was a easy comparison the blueprinting made when two of my friends also have a 252 and 272 Baja. the new gel coat could use a 300 grit hand sand to remove the brush strokes from application. It is running just around 60 mph with a bravo 1 22 pitch. And that is with just about a stock base 454. The boat is all setup to go the fastest it can with the power it has now, it just needs some real power to make it a 80 85+ mph boat if that is what you are looking for. I wish I didn't have to sell it but due to the fact that I moved I have to let it go. Trailer has new wheel bearings and two new hubs but no brakes.Boat is also listed locally and can be removed at any time. Sold as is.
