"Happy Hour" is a 1982 Cal 39 MK iii Cruising Sailboat.A Little History:Bought new in Florida and sailed regularly by her original owner, a New York Dentist, she was primarily used on the northeast coast of the USA.Sometime around 2010 she was sold to a man in Bridgeport, CT who used her primarily in the Long Island Sound with family and friends. In January 2012, after engine trouble, he put her on the hard and subsequently sold her to me due to health reasons. I bought her in January 2015 with the intent of sailing her to Florida for Bahamas trips. Life has taken some turns for me and regretfully my plans must changeShe has been previously documented with the USCG as "Maltese Falcon" but the man I got her from changed the name to "Happy Hour" and registered her in Connecticut.I have a bill of sale from the previous owner and will provide it and a bill of sale from myself to the purchaser.I also have some old log books and the old USCG Documentation that I will send to you.All of the items that were not attached to the boat have been removed and placed in a nearby storage so that I could clean and go through the boat systems one by one. Thats where my plan ended. Also in the storage are many items from a Schock 37 that the previous owner gave me to use as I wanted. Some good sails, a barrel full of lines. extra steering wheel, barbecue, etc... The Key and info for the storage will be sent to the Purchaser. The previous owner had new Garmin electronics installed in 2012 including chartplotter sounder, XM and radar. However, the head unit was stolen. the transducers, radar, and everything else is still installed. The head unit was a Garmin 4210 which is still available for around $1000 online. it was not mounted to the boat when it was taken. a new one should be a plug and play interface for all the electronics onboard. There is also an older radar that appears to function but I was going to remove it. I have the charts for the New York area for the Garmin Blue Charts which I will include. She is:19500 Displacement7000# Lead Encapsulated BallastFin KeelSpade Rudder5'6" Draft54' bridge clearanceTri-Cabin Layout125 Gallon water storage43 gallons Fuel storageShe includes the following inventory:Main Sail, good conditionGenoa, good conditionSpinnaker and sock, good conditionSpinnaker poleHood Roller FurlingWindlassCQR AnchorEmergency tillerWheel SteeringPropane gimbaled range with ovenPressure WaterRefrigerationElectric HeadShowerFresh and Seawater at the GalleyLavatory Sink in head and Aft CabinAutopilot Mounted Below Decks (I believe Autohelm)Garmin Radar 2012CompassDepth SounderSpeedometerBiminiDodgerBoat CushionsCockpit TableStainless BBQVessel needs engine repaired or replaced, new Garmin head unit and the typical love needed by a vessel on the hard for several years. Other than that she is a very nice and solid boat. I was told the transmission was rebuilt shortly before she was laid up but I can't confirm. These boats are selling from $40,000 to over $70,000 in varying conditions.I live in California and the only pictures I have are the ones posted here. The boat is view-able in Bridgeport CT. on request. Please do not bid if you are not serious, a bid is a contract to purchase so please do your due diligence first.I will cover all storage until April 31, 2016. The people at the marina are very easy to work with and I'm sure you could assume the storage unit if necessary. If you have less than 10 feedback please message me with a phone number before bidding. There is a nice article by Sailing magazine that reviews this model boat for your general info. Search Cal 39 MKiiiPlease call me or leave a number for more info. Most of my replies on ebay are getting returned for some reason.Thank You,Tim408-656-8815Thank You for reading and Happy Bidding!
On Jun-19-16 at 10:46:36 PDT, seller added the following information:This is a re-list due to a non-paying bidder who "wasn't comfortable sending money to California" to pay for the auction. That's how ebay works. If you are not comfortable with the terms of the auction or do not plan to follow through for ANY reason then please DO NOT BID!!! Non paying bidders will be reported.I will cover all storage through June 30, 2016, not April as stated above.I did not mention that she is cutter rigged with a detachable inner forestay. The first three pics are from 8 months ago. All the other pics are from April 16, 2016.I continue to get questions about the motor. It is a Pathfinder Diesel. Basically a marinized Volkswagen 1.5 liter. The motor is an interference motor. This means that when the timing belt broke the pistons and valves "interfere" or collide resulting in valve damage and also possibly piston damage. If the pistons are ok then the head could be replaced to repair the problem. Heads are available for $500 +/-. If the pistons were damaged then a whole long block would be needed at a cost of $2200 +/-. Those prices are for parts at a place online called partsplace, you would have to do the work or have it done. The marina does allow you to do your own work. The marina charges roughly $1700 every six months. The current contract is May 1-October 31. They may prorate if you wanted to launch sooner. My share would be about 1/3 of the contract to pay through June.
