Avon Searider 5.4m military spec RHIB with Yamaha 80 engine (derated 90 for longevity) and De-Graff trailer. Ready to use.
Condition as per Photos. Generally, a very good boat, very good tubes, hold air really well, only need a few top ups year. 1 small 2” patch underside. Big patch inside is tidying up where a rope bag was taken off and left a gluey mess. Hull is solid, underside was antifouled when I got the boat which I have completely stripped off one side and 90% off the other side then I got impatient and started using the boat, and never finished the last bit! Would benefit from finishing scraping, and polishing gelcoat back up. Obviously being ex-navy and an old boat it has battle scars and scrapes, however it is one of the better ex-navy boats I have seen, certainly as good as you will find in this price range Engine runs great, and trailer is as good as new.
Flooding hull reversibly blocked with a custom made Aluminum bung with drain plug, for better hole shot, I can’t see why anyone would need it unblocked, its massively stable for a boat of its size. I realised just how stable after a recent trip in a Warrior 18ft fishing boat which was pants in comparison.
I will miss this boat, however having used it only 3 times last year and twice the year before that due to lack of time and work/family commitments and generally dwindling enthusiasm I have decided to have a break from boating for a few years, and it seems silly to lay it up for that period of time, it will only decay from lack of use. Someone else may as well get some fun out of it. Ideal first boat, The great thing about old seariders is you can own one for years and sell it for nearly what you bought it for! · Avon Searider 5.4m RHIB Ex Royal Navy 1989 boat Re-tubed by navy dockyard in approx. 2004/5 with Henshaw armoured 5 chamber Hypalon sponsons with 8 webbing slam straps. · Reinforced transom 2 x 5mm Aluminium sandwich spreader plates replacing the original thin marine plywood spreader which had more holes than a teabag (3 or 4 different engines look to have been fitted over the years).
