The Westerly GK24 was a radical departure from Westerly Marine's traditional line of solid cruisers. Designed by Laurent Giles, the prototype, "Ebblake IV" was an out and out IOR Quarter Ton Cup racing yacht built in cold-moulded mahogany, which was very successful over a two year period. From this design, and with the experience gained over the two years racing, the GK24 was launched in 1974, as a club racer, with a choice of two rigs masthead or fractional, (This boat having the fractional rig)).
