EXTREMELY RARE …1948 Cracker Box Racing Boat that has been sitting for over 50 years ina couple of different barns during its life. I found this boat in a barn almost10 yrs ago in southern Ca. The person started the restoration and passed awaywhere the boat sat for decades before the family decided to part with it. He waspart of crew/family with the original owner. ( have more original pictures )This boat ran the big class with the big Merc flathead engine. The boat appears to possibly have had the motor pulled out in or around 1955 whenthe s/b chevy's were introduced to the class and the flatheads were not reallycompetitive any longer. No other motor went in the boat and it has sat ever since. The boat is complete minus motor. Everything is still there as if they unhookedthe 4 bolts, throttle linkage etc .. and yanked it out. It's all there as the day itwas all pulled out!!The boat has its ORIGINAL trailer with the 6 supports. These 6 supports area dead giveaway that the racer was serious with boat racing. This is the onlyCracker Box I have ever seen that still retains its original trailer.Serious inquiries only. Reason for selling - it appears I'm moving out of countryand I'm not sure I can take it with me. Should it not sell then I will most likely finda way to take it and finish the restoration eventually. My goal was a full race Merc Flathead, Hillborn injection, Harmon Collinsmagneto etc etc etc …..boat in white with grey inside and red interior, woodvarnished dash. This is the earliest surviving Cracker box today that ran the "BIG" class. Thereare a few Cracker Box boats surviving that ran the small class with the V8-60.Serious only please … Thank youPick up only in Burbank, Ca. area
5 day listing - most likely one and only time offered===================================================================Note: - the black areas on the transom is not rot. This is burn marks from the torch whenthe fiberglass was removed. I have the original fuel tank - all chrome accessories - exhaust - filler etc etc …..Thank you for the questions
