Description

Make: Century

This Century Sabre, hull #28, may be the last mahogany Sabre to be built in Manistee MI. I found it in Wolfeboro as a basket case and had the hull rebuilt by a local man who has since passed away. The hull was restored in 1996 with West System and 3M 5200. The Chrysler 318 engine is original with approximately 380 hours (working hour meter). The seating, chrome, instruments, controls and fiberglass deck are all original and operational. It was an award winner (First Place) in Charlestown MD Fall Classic Rendezvous. We used it in NH lakes (where I bought it as a basket case in 1995), PA lakes and the fresh water Sassafras River on the Chesapeake Bay. It has not been in the water or used since 2003, but has been in dry, enclosed storage. The only fix needed is to reattach the shaft log to the keel. The varnish is fine and cosmetically, it is what you would expect to find in a 49 year old boat which has had great care during her lifetime. I worked at the Great East Lake Marina during high school. This exact boat came in for fueling many times and each time I fell a bit more in love with the lines, looks, sound and power it possessed. I dreamt for many years until I found it. It was often used to pull two skiers up simultaneously on the lake. She has a ski tow ring aft of the front bench seat.
When we used this boat on the Sassafras River she was a head turner, even under the covered shed at Skipjack Cove Marina. The boat is warehoused in Havre de Grace, MD and is available with an appointment for viewing. This must be arranged with a friend who resides locally. This is due to the fact I now reside in  Massachusetts. If you know this line of classic Century boat you will not be disappointed.Included in the sale is a 1996 Shorelander galvanized bunk trailer with surge brakes.
The blue mooring cover is also included as well as the difficult to find original fore and aft mast. This fun, head turning vessel will bring you many years of enjoyment.A $500 deposit through PayPal is required to inspect the runabout. If you choose not to purchase it, I will reimburse the deposit, less fees.
