I am selling my Allan Buchanan yacht GNU. She is a one off design originally commissioned by a doctor from Ipswich and build by Foxes boat yard in 1958 very similar to the sea worthy East Anglian design.
I have been working on her over the last 7 months and in that time I have re galvanised the floor straps and re fitted them, re galvanised the stem head and horse for the main sail. The bilges have been repainted with Damboline and the inside of the boat have also been repainted and re varnished.
The deck has been repainted too, varnished and refitted with renovated anchor blocks and mushroom vents: one brass one bronze. The mast step has also been re galvanised and re fitted.
The hull has been completely renovated and stripped back to bare wood and is now is in very good order with four coats of primer and re corking and graving pieces fitted where necessary and a new top coat. Newly bolted chain plates have also been fitted all around.
New cock pit walls have been cut and painted with Lloyds marine grade ply.
The cockpit floor has been stripped and is ready for corking and fitting.
Gnu also has a new rudder made of Irokko and Oak along with a new tiller also in Oak. The rudder still needs to be finished off and refitted with new iron work.
The wood for the mast is cut and plained ready for final shaping and iron work.Gnu comes with CQR anchor, chain and warp and gatehouse sounder.
Stanchions all around with stainless wire.
Her dimensions are: LOA 25ft LWL 19ft Beam 7ft Draft 4.6
She is made of Larch, Oak, and mahogany with some teak in the cockpit.
The original line drawings for her are at the Maritime museum in Fowey.
Buchanan described her as a fast cruiser.
She has no engine, sails or rigging. So she is of course being sold as a project.
She's a lovely little yacht, a real eye catcher. She is currently standing at Wilsons Yard in Hayling Island near Portsmouth an easy to get to place and a great place for restoration with very reasonable rates.Work and a new project means I must sell her asap so no reserve price. Thanks for looking.
