Project Kestrel : Currently moored on Leeds and Liverpool Canal at Scarisbrick close to Southport, the entrance to the moorings is opposite the Blue Elephant Indian restaurant Burland 26ft GRP Canal Cruiser. Measures at 28ft including engine/Pulpit. Ideal first boat for someone with DIY skills as there are jobs outstanding that I didn't get around to doing before I ended up with another boat. Boat Safety Scheme certificate until July 2017. It is CRT licensed until end of 05/16. The hull is sound. Jobs that need doing: It has a 9.9hp Yamaha outboard long shaft engine electric start Model 9.9AE which now starts first time since I charged the battery.The battery on board is a leisure battery around 100A but could do with another smaller battery just for starting - It has a battery 1 / battery 2 isolator switch and the engine charges these when running. The back section has rainwater leaks around the toilet window/vent on the port side. On the starboard side it also has a rainwater leak that I can't source. Some wood will need replacing around these areas. I've always emptied the bilge manually with a stirrup pump and bucket as it doesn't need doing that often, but an auto bilge pump on a float device could be fitted. Also some of the front cushions will need new covers making. I was about to fit new carpet which is on board but not fitted yet. It has 240 v hook up fitted with a garage fuse/trip unit and 3 double sockets - which I also used these for lighting. Kitchen sink/drainer, cassette toilet in good condition. Stainless steel marine gas cooker with twin burners grill/oven. Inbuilt separate toilet area, larder cupboard, wardrobe and drawers. It has loads of storage compartments under the seats and others areas. Sleeps 4 as in the front seating converts into a double bed and seating on both sides converts into two singles Table dismantles to form the double bed at the front and two smaller beds at each side. Outside it has stainless steel handrails, headlights, navigation lights and stainless steel twin horns that sound like the QE2 - these only work when the engine is running or the battery is fully charged. Spare new propeller and anchor for river use included. Kestrel is a well loved boat that has given us many hours of pleasure around the canal network.
