Description
For reluctant sale is my brother's project boat Kingfisher - this is what he says:I’ve really enjoyed working on her and have put in hours and hours of time and effort, but personal circumstances mean I now have to let someone else finish her off. She’s a centre cockpit narrowboat, 27 foot long (approx. 8.25 metres) by 6 foot 10 foot wide (approx. 3.25 metres). The boat was originally built circa 1990. Buyers are welcome to come and have a look round by appointment - phone me on 07581324408 or e-mail stevebarlow61@talktalk.net My name is Steve BarlowI've owned this boat for around 12 months, and have the bill of sale and plans to complete the restoration, plus a Safety Certificate up to December 2019. The Hull – externally: The lower part is metal, the cockpit is fibreglass. The boat was taken out of the water summer 2015, wire brushed red oxided and blacked out with bitumen paint.Fibreglass was sanded down (you can see the progress in the photos) and painted in gloss exterior paint. The windows don’t need attention and are waterproof. The boat is currently in the water, moored at Bredon Marina, and the way she looks now is with the black bottom and the blue top – there is a photo of her out of water showing the progress, when the bottom was orange and the top white and blue.Access to the boat is through the central opening which is covered by the Pram cratch (blue awning). Currently it’s a jerry built step to the floor but I was going to put in a set of two permanent steps. The pram cratch cover is clean and fits snugly by snap on preststuds and rubber lugs – the pram cratch can be removed completely as required. In the centre is the stainless steel checker plate that removes to give access to the engine – this is a 10 HP Yanmar Single Cyclinder Diesel engine in good working order (I have the manual). Water cooled – uses river water to keep it cool, better than air cooled. Starts up just fine. The steering wheel is Morse Control, fitted and working. From the central steering area there are two doorways (doors need to be found and fitted) one leading to the front cabin and one to the aft (both partitioned off from the central access point). There is Polystyrene insulation in between the outer and inner lower metal hull in both cabins. The Front cabin has plywood cladding on the walls. The Aft cabin has insulation in place and the necessary hardboard ready to be fixed to the walls. At the front the small cabin has space for a ¾ size bed, and/or a unit for storage. I’ve made a start in fitting 12V electrics (12V battery provided) in this cabin but it needs expanding to include the aft cabin. At the back there is a much larger aft cabin. There are two fitted storage boxes which can be outfitted to provide seating areas and convert to a double bed. This cabin has a new 20ml plywood floor. In the Aft cabin there is also a cooking unit with a new 3 burner gas hob which has a separate grill, and a stainless steel sink in its own purpose built unit. The sink will need to be plumbed in to the cold water storage tanks (2) sited below the deck - this is usually done when the hot water heater is installed. The gas canister needs connecting up to the hobCurrently the boat is moored at Bredon Marina on the River Avon near Tewkesbury. License is £100 per year for river AvonWhat needs completing:• Needs wiring finished or you could simply use the marina 240V landline – the 12 V is if you want to cruise around. • Doors need to sourced and fitted• Bed support needs fitting• Aft cabin plywood walls need fitting• Need new cushions and a bed conversion fitting• Needs a gas water heater sourcing and fitting if required Needs water storage tanks connected to sink• Needs a toilet fitting – has the space opposite the sink with a new floor and the plywood to build a cubicle is supplied.• Needs carpet and curtainsAlso included are most of the bits and pieces in the photos – the gas canisters, buoys around the outside, gaff, battery etc. Please get in touch with a sensible offer, or make arrangements to come and view the boat by phoning me on 07581324408 or e-mail stevebarlow61@talktalk.net
