Beautifully appointed Hutchinson mahogany boat!  Seating for 7 passengers comfortably, custom cabinetry, unique cabin top with multiple positions, and excellent storage throughout!  A super rare, quality crafted, limited production wood boat!  Gorgeous! Hutchinson Brothers Boat Works, Inc. was founded in Alexandria Bay, New York in a rented building in 1902. A true family business, all four Hutchinson brothers (James Herbert, George, Thomas and Joseph) as well as eleven to sixteen other men worked day after day to build exceptionally crafted mahogany planked boats ranging from 19’ utility boats to 48’ runabouts. From 1902 to 1964, it is said that Hutchinson built over 250 boats including houseboats, racing boats, launches, utilities, sedans, cruisers, runabouts and even boats for the war effort, many of their own design but some based off the designs of other famous manufacturers. They remain very tasteful and more exclusive alternatives to some of the more common Hacker and Chris Craft brands, but arguably just as stylish and with craftsmanship second-to-none! We are very excited to offer this 1950 Hutchinson 26’ Utility Boat!  It possesses a large 8’4″ beam allowing for wonderful cabin space, and wave disbursement on larger lakes, with only a 24″ draft requirement.  It boat was restored and newer items include 12-volt electronics with new wiring, 2 new Rule bilge pumps, CD Player, new green vinyl upholstery, chrome, flooring, steering wheel and full cockpit canopy.  Originally Chrysler powered, the current engine is a Chris Craft 283ci V8 (installed approximately 1984) providing 300 horsepower that will propel this utility to 30 miles per hour.  Included with the boat is a 1988 Remeq Inc. tandem axle trailer with new tires in April 2015. This vessel was purchased 11 years ago by the previous owner from Canada.  Before his purchase, he had a survey conducted in mid-May of 2004 by Jonathan A. Watson (I/ENG, CIMarE, AMIMarE) of Marine Surveys Inc. Overall findings were very favorable with notes worth mentioning: the topside varnish is “bright and clear” with even staining. Underneath, he found that the hull was re-caulked, with a freshly balanced propeller and that the ribs inside were repaired as needed. The fuel tank was removed and boiled before being reinstalled with new vent and lines to the engine in copper.  The steering was serviced and the electrical system was also completely gone through to ensure proper functionality! Finally, the surveyor also found a new compass, serviced fire extinguisher and numerous ropes and paddles that all still reside in the vessel today.  It was registered out of New York state by a Hartford, Connecticut owner prior to 2004 when named “Chantannic III”. Having seen only occasional outings over the last 11 years on a fresh water lake in Lancaster, Ontario, Canada, the boat remains in very similar condition as when the survey was completed, noting the boat was stored out of the water in a covered dock during summer and in a closed building on a trailer in the winter.  The bow number area and rear stern area are prepped for its next owner to register and rename.  It is fully functional and ready for immediate use.  We would welcome any additional questions on this wonderful and rare 26’ Hutchinson Utility; please don’t hesitate to call with further questions! Thanks for looking!
